Blackness 

comes alive

above  

the gutter

clouds are always

gathering

soundlessly

a threat is in the air

people leaning  

out of balconies

the streets ringing out 

with the sound of the partisan song

an umbrella

folded and

forgotten

slowly drenched

on the street
